Time to send out a bit of praise to a couple of places on the inter-thing which have been kind enough to feature us in the past little while:
The ever informative Google is telling me it’s Earth Day. Well, acutally, it was the day before yesterday but that’s just because A) I’m a little slow off the mark and B) we’re all way ahead of you US folks here in Oz.
We’ve noticed a bunch of companies around the place (including our happy web hosting company) jumping on the band wagon to declare themselves carbon neutral. Not wanting to miss the boat on a trend that is both sweeping and helping the globe, we’d like to do the same here at Without Pockets. We’re looking into our power supplier and the other potentially carbon producing things we do, but if you’ve got any tips that might help get us there faster we’d love to hear them!
Finally! After such a long wait, I can officially announce a couple of new designs have hit the store.
The winners were notified ages ago but we’ve had a few hold ups getting the actual tees sorted. But, without further ado, the winners are:

With such a hard limit on the number of colours you can use, making the right colour choices when designing a tee is all important. Top notch designer and blogger Veerle has written an excellent article on choosing colour combinations:

So the holidays are over and the grind of work is in the process of re-commencing. Sure, you students still have it ok, but the rest of us are already thinking about the next public holiday. I thought I’d try and brighten your day a little by attempting to make this blog/news thingy just a little bit more interesting (though lets face it, I could easily be deluding myself).
Since Without Pockets is all about awesome design I thought it might be sweet to link to some of the awesome design that I find floating around the internet. As well as that, we’re all about awesome design being accessible to the masses so I thought some tutorials wouldn’t go astray either. Keep in mind they won’t always directly relate to designing a ripping tee, but I hope you find them interesting nevertheless. You can never have too much inspiration if you ask me!

Yay! Monday! is a little bit of fun along similar lines to Without Pockets (you can submit and you can vote and you can even win (unfortunately glory is the only prize). You can see some awesomecool (that’s a new word I just made up) stuff there and it might just make your Mondays something to look forward to.
Go check it out, it really is fun and if you need to break out a little and lose the restrictions of designing for tees then maybe even submit something (if you do submit something over there, let us know in the comments so we can all go check it out).

I just noticed it’s been nearly a month since I’ve posted anything here in the news section which makes me slack, slack, slack! Since it’s been so long I thought I’d better announce something half decent. So I present you with customisable profile pages and avatars. Woo!
To add content to your user page or upload an avatar you just need to head on over to your user page (check the FAQ if you don’t know how).
Your avatar should now appear next to all the comments you make and your profile page will display anything you put in the ‘about’ field when joining up or editing your profile. The profile page will also show your avatar, the last two comments you made, all designs you’ve submitted, how many designs you’ve voted on and the average score you gave.
Think profile pages should show or do more? We do to. We will likely be making incremental improvements to the profile pages over time so if you’ve got any suggestions on what you think they should show or do leave a comment to let us know.

We started advertising for real this week and as you can see, the first two designs have already been submitted. The time is now to get your design ass in gear to have your best shot at scoring that prize. The first designs should be chosen just before Christmas ($750 cash + $750 worth of vouchers to score some tees in the new year wouldn’t be a half bad Christmas bonus!) and so we should have our first tees in store by early January.
Go vote for ‘em!
Some of you are way on the ball and have noticed that we don’t actually have a phone number yet. Never fear! It won’t be long before we have a shiny new 1300 number up on the contact page for all you email-phobes.
Finally, we now have some templates available just in case you need a starting point for your design. Go grab them from the submit page.

Well, it’s up and running. We are now, very officially ready for submissions. I won’t guarantee the whole place is totally bug free just yet, but all the core, important stuff should be rock solid! Besides, any programmer worth the Coke and corn chips that fuels them knows nothing is ever 100% bug free. You can expect a few tweaks and changes to make their way onto the site over the coming weeks as (with any luck) more users join up and we start getting some real world feedback.
A massive thanks to all the dudes and dudettes who did some testing for me over the past couple of weeks.
